You may be able to take part in the COVID-19 Studies if you:

  • Have been exposed to COVID-19
  • Have been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • Are an individual at risk of contracting COVID-19 (e.g. a caretaker, healthcare worker, or live in a household with an individual at high-risk)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Clinical Research Study?

A Clinical Research Study (also called a clinical trial) is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about an investigational drug – these may include how well an investigational study drug works for a certain condition. All medications must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved and prescribed to patients.

In this case, it is important for researchers and doctors to understand how the human body reacts to the virus in order to create new treatments and vaccines to combat the virus. Researchers may do this by collecting blood or saliva samples to analyze.

Participation in the COVID-19 Studies may involve visits to a study clinic near your home.

Compensation for travel may also be available.

In the COVID-19 Studies, participants will be randomly assigned to a study group. Your blood or saliva may be collected to analyze. You may also be responsible for tracking your symptoms in a daily log.

Volunteers who qualify to take part in the study may receive compensation for study-related travel. Please discuss this with the study team when they contact you.

There is no cost to participate in the COVID-19 Studies. If you qualify, all study-related visits, tests, and care will be provided at no cost.

If you decide to take part, you will receive study-related care throughout the study from a team of experienced doctors and nurses.

The research team will be able to explain more about what the COVID-19 Studies will involve, and it is up to you to decide if you want to take part. Participation in this study is voluntary. Whether or not you decide to participate in this study will not affect your current or future relationships with your doctors. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time without affecting those relationships or the care you receive.

If you match to a study that requires visits to a clinic, we will match you to a study clinic within a close travel distance from your home. If we are not running the study in your area currently, with your permission, we will keep you in our database and reach out once a study clinic in your area becomes available. If at any time, you decide you no longer want to participate in the study, you can opt-out and we will delete your information.
